The Association for Behavioral Health and Wellness (ABHW) is dedicated to advancing federal policy and educating the public on mental health and substance use disorder care. By advocating on behalf of health plans for improved access and higher quality care, we are focused on ensuring better health outcomes for individuals and communities.

Qualifications

  • Maximum of 20 hours/week
  • Bachelor’s degree required, graduate-level coursework in communications, marketing, public affairs, or related subjects preferred
  • Interest in mental health, substance use disorders, or healthcare
  • Subject matter knowledge of healthcare issues, understanding of mental health and substance use disorder issues is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Capable of independent decision-making and taking initiative
  • Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively

Additional Information

ABHW is seeking a part-time Communications Intern for the Fall 2024 semester. The intern will work on various communications and public affairs-related activities for the organization as well as it’s Stamp Out Stigma initiative. The intern will report to the Director of Communications and Programs.

Level of stipend is commensurate with experience. Willing to work with the intern to help them receive coursework or internship credit with their university if this is of interest.
