Muhlenberg College is seeking a Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for its highly popular interdisciplinary program/minor, which also houses a state-of-the-art makerspace in the spectacular Fahy Commons, a LEED Platinum Certified Building on track to be the first Living Building Challenge Core-certified structure in the world.
The College & Surrounding Area: Founded in 1848, Muhlenberg College is a private, residential liberal arts college offering baccalaureate and graduate programs. At Muhlenberg, we are committed to a campus community that ensures students, faculty, and staff of all backgrounds feel welcome, respected, valued and included. Muhlenberg College is dedicated to shaping creative, compassionate, collaborative leaders through rigorous academic programs in the arts, humanities, business, natural sciences and social sciences; pre-professional programs in law, health and theology; and progressive workforce-focused post-baccalaureate certificates and master’s degrees. A diverse city of 125,000 located in Pennsylvania’s scenic Lehigh Valley, Allentown is the third-largest city in the state and is located just 60 miles north of Philadelphia and 90 miles west of New York City. The region, also comprising neighboring Bethlehem, Easton and more, is home to a vibrant arts scene, extensive parks and recreational opportunities, and a rich blend of diverse cuisine. Reporting to the Provost and Chair of the Accounting, Business, Economics & Finance (ABEF) Department, the Director will be responsible for teaching in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship (INE) program, advising INE minors, co-curricular programming, supervising internships, and collaborating on projects with students and other members of the broader College and/or Lehigh Valley communities. The Director will also supervise and support other faculty who also teach in the program, provide mentoring and advising to students, and support co-curricular programming. Currently there is also an Advisory Committee composed of faculty and staff to support the program. The Director will be appointed to a non-tenure track faculty position at an appropriate rank. The faculty position will require high-quality teaching and mentoring of liberal arts undergraduates.
Schedule & Benefits: We are pleased to offer this full-time, non-tenure track, 10-month faculty appointment (August – May). Muhlenberg offers a highly competitive benefits package, including but not limited to, paid parental leave, tuition programs at the undergraduate and graduate level, medical, dental and vision coverage, flexible spending plans, College-provided short-and long-term disability, life insurance, and retirement. The initial appointment will be for two years with the possibility for renewal. The full-course load will be determined at the time of hiring and will be dependent on the candidate’s qualifications – including technical aptitude with the equipment in the makerspace. The Director will teach up to 3 courses per year.
